At The Start to Happy Foundation, we believe that mental health care should be accessible to everyone, regardless of financial circumstances. While we do not currently accept insurance, we offer a sliding scale payment system to ensure that finances are never a barrier to receiving care.

How Our Sliding Scale Works

Our sliding scale is based on household income, allowing individuals to pay what they can afford. The per-session fee ranges from $0 to $155, ensuring that those in need can access support without financial strain.

The specific session rate is determined based on:
✔ Household income
✔ Number of dependents
✔ Financial hardship considerations

Income Verification & Payment Calculation

Our Approach

To provide fair and equitable access to care, The Start to Happy Foundation follows a structured process to determine each individual's per-session payment.

Step 1: Submit Income Verification

To apply for our sliding scale, we require documentation of your household income.

Acceptable forms of proof include:

Recent pay stubs (last 2 months)
Most recent tax return
Unemployment or disability benefit statements
Proof of government assistance (e.g., SNAP, Medicaid, SSI)

If your financial situation has changed due to hardship, you may also provide a written explanation, and we will take that into consideration.

Step 2: Determine Your Session Fee

Once your documentation is reviewed, your session fee will be assigned based on our income brackets:

Annual Household Income Session Fee

$0 - $25,000 $0 - $25

$25,001 - $40,000 $30 - $55

$40,001 - $55,000 $60 - $85

$55,001 - $75,000 $90 - $120

$75,001+ $125 - $155

Clients experiencing temporary financial hardship may request a reassessment at any time.

Step 3: Confirm and Begin Services

Once your rate is determined, you will receive a confirmation email with your approved session fee. If you accept, we will schedule your first session.
